A Brand Story

Values, vision and beliefs

At the heart of The Peace of Mind Playlist is a commitment to empowerment through understanding. The book champions personal growth, self-awareness and the transformative power of music. I believe that everyone – especially men over 30 who grapple with anxiety, overthinking, and self-doubt – deserves accessible tools to improve their mental well-being.

My vision is simple: I’d really like to see more people live with more peace of mind. It’d be great to see the stigma around mental health diminish, with practical strategies as common in conversation as the latest playlist. I believe that combining science-based strategies with the universal language of music creates a uniquely powerful toolkit for managing inner turmoil.

Music evokes emotion and connection; strategies provide clarity and action. Together, they offer a lifeline to anyone ready to press play and find calm amid life’s noise.

Why the world needs this book

The Peace of Mind Playlist matters because the world is noisier and more stressful than ever. Mental health struggles – particularly among men – remain unspoken too often. People are navigating complex emotions without a manual. This book provides that manual, written in plain, relatable language, and enhanced by a curated playlist of songs that evoke memories, moods and moments of clarity.

Unlike other resources, this book integrates science, personal narrative and music into a dynamic, immersive experience. It helps readers understand the brain’s primal amygdala and rational neocortex, demystifying the mechanics of anxiety and overthinking. By pairing insights with songs, the lessons become memorable, actionable and engaging.

How The Peace of Mind Playlist emerged

The inspiration for this book came from my own experiences. Having worked – and struggled mentally – at the Beijing 2022 winter Olympics, the summer that followed was a turning point: seeing a LinkedIn post about mental health struggles at sports events, I felt an urge to speak out. A history of overthinking and impostor syndrome weighed on me. I knew I wasn’t alone, and I wanted to create something meaningful for myself when working at future events and for others who feel the same.

My annual Spotify playlists, personal markers of joy and reflection, reminded me of music’s power. I saw an opportunity to blend these elements – mental health strategies, brain science, and music – into a resource that could truly resonate. What began as a personal project became a mission to support others in navigating their mental landscapes with more ease and understanding.

Why this book matters

The book speaks directly to those who feel stuck in cycles of self-doubt, offering strategies that are straightforward and effective. Part 4’s 18 proven techniques, when combined with the playlist, provide an accessible, multi-sensory approach to mental clarity. Songs serve as mental triggers, recalling strategies and fostering emotional shifts.

This matters because it’s not just theory, it’s a toolkit shaped by lived experience and practical research. Every song, every strategy reflects the trials and triumphs of managing my own mental chatter.

Why me, and why now

Why me? Because I’ve been there. I’ve spent decades wrestling with self-doubt, overthinking and the relentless inner critic. I’m not a psychologist or a doctor – and that’s the point. I’m a relatable voice, someone who’s stumbled through life’s mental traps and found ways out. My journey of learning and unlearning has equipped me to guide others.

Why now? Because the world needs more open conversations about mental health, particularly among men. Because I’ve personally reduced negative thinking by up to 90% using these methods, and I know how transformative they can be. And because time is precious – this book is a quick, impactful read that delivers real value.

Why I want to make this happen

I want this book to be a companion for anyone battling their inner critic. I want to break down barriers that prevent people from seeking help by offering a resource that’s relatable, engaging and easy to implement. I want to help others experience the peace of mind I’ve found, armed with tools that are simple but profound.

The Peace of Mind Playlist is my way of giving back, of transforming pain into purpose. It’s about connection, conversation and community. It’s about making mental health support practical, memorable and even a little bit musical.

How my story makes the product better

This book isn’t an abstract exercise; it’s rooted in real-life struggles and triumphs. My background in sports media, my passion for music and my personal battles with mental knots shape its voice and structure. The stories I share offer authenticity and relatability, making the strategies feel attainable.

The playlist is not random – it’s curated with intention, reflecting the moods and moments of my journey. Just like life, it’s varied, unpredictable and full of surprises. That mix mirrors the ups and downs of managing mental health. Readers will feel a connection not just to the ideas but to the experiences behind them.

A final note

The Peace of Mind Playlist is a labour of love. It’s a bridge between science and soul, a resource for anyone who needs a little help quieting the noise inside their head. It’s an invitation to press play and find your own rhythm for peace of mind.
