Effective marketing and advertising might offer suggestions.

Or it might get you dreaming, fearing, scheming, planning or imagining.

The best does both.

Here’s a print ad I saw yesterday in a magazine I rarely pick up. I thought it was great so quickly told Mischa (younger daughter) my opinion before she lost interest/got bored and moved to the other end of the sofa:

I like this ad for four reasons:

  1. It’s designed well and visually appealing
  2. Because it’s well designed, it makes me want to read the words
  3. Those words offer a dozen reasonable, imaginable scenarios to enjoy the product (and therefore lots of reasons to buy it)
  4. Timing: much closer to Christmas and I’d regard it as too late. Any earlier than late November and it’d annoy me
