Every day, I read or hear something that makes me think I must finish my next book sooner rather than later.

Then I think of a reason to delay the work.

So I’m trying something new here (new for me at least): blogging every day.

It feels daunting but I believe it’ll move me closer to writing that book, which is the 11th I’ll have worked on in some capacity.

It’s probably my most important yet, is called The Inted Manifesto, and is about why I believe schools must start teaching children about the internet.

Schools teach children how to code and how to be safe online, which is great, but I want kids to learn much more than that.

I want them to understand what’s going on when they’re using social media platforms, why a company or blogger is asking for their email address, what Google does to make its billions, and I want them to appreciate the vast array of opportunities that the internet gives us.

As we build computers that are more and more intelligent, we need to maintain our own capabilities in areas which differentiate us from technology.

We need to cultivate empathy, creativity, generosity, collaborative skills and emotional intelligence, and everything else that computers/AI can’t emulate.

Those are our best differentiators in the modern world.

Unfortunately our schools are miles behind teaching much of this stuff.

If this interests you, come back here tomorrow and the day after, and you’ll start to see what I’m thinking of and talking about in much more detail.
