Hurry up and do your thing: you’ll be holding the match with the flame at your fingertips before you know it and you haven’t even lit the candle yet.

Watching a programme about Billy Connolly recently increased my sense of urgency.

Connolly has Parkinson’s Disease and in the second of the two programmes he talked about how he felt that various faculties were gradually leaving him (or being taken away from him): his memory, eyesight, his ability to play the banjo, and so on.

Seeing things like that pushes me on and makes me think that I want to do stuff while I can, while I have the ideas, creativity, energy, time, and memory to do my best.

Striking while the iron’s hot, I suppose.

Time to pick up the pace.
