The internet, in terms of education alone, offers so much more than just Google Classroom and udemy.com*. For example, we can learn how to do virtually anything simply by watching YouTube videos: play guitar, rewire a house or throw the javelin well enough to win Olympic gold, as Keshorn Walcott did in 2012 (see below).

And because the internet offers audio, video, text, graphics, images and almost any product imaginable – whatever we want, whenever we want it – the value we get for the price of a bag of broadband or a dollop of 4g is immeasurable.

I can go online and buy a book that’ll change my life for less than a fiver.

Compare that to the £22 it cost me yesterday to wait 29 minutes at Luton airport to pick up Shoelace (Mrs P).
