Webinars are great. Having said that, I haven’t been on one for about five years.

They’re basically great ways to learn on the internet. The word itself combines ‘seminar’ and ‘web’, and in my experience they’re a set of slides with a live speaker or two over the top (and out of vision throughout).

There’s usually a degree of interaction between speaker and audience, too.

The webinars I’ve been on in the past were usually aimed at a US audience – hence them being on in the middle of the night here in the UK – and taught me all sorts of marketing strategies, ideas and about different products.

That last bit is crucial: many webinars are, as I say, great for learning but they’re also great examples of content marketing.

That’s when people give away really good, valuable, useful content which makes you more receptive to any offers they put in front of you (webinars that I’ve been on have tended to include an offer straight after the teaching bit).
