Who is The Inted Manifesto for?

What am I trying to achieve with it?

Why me?

I’m glad you asked.

Firstly, it’s for people who want the best education for our children and are interested in the future. I hope that’s you. You might be a parent, a teacher, a teenager. It doesn’t matter.

By writing this blog, then a book, and using social media, I’m attempting to generate interest in a campaign to get internet education – inted – taught in schools.

And when I’ve been at it for a while, I’ll know whether it’s worth setting up a petition (at petition.parliament.uk) and aiming to gather 100,000 signatures, enough for inted to be considered for a debate in Parliament.

Why me?

I’m a parent and have been using the internet commercially and working online since 2007.

I work for myself across several disciplines including journalism, blogging, copywriting, editing and internet marketing. I build websites for clients (and host some of those sites). I’ve run social media accounts for businesses other than my own, I blog professionally as well as write, host and send emails on behalf of another company.

I love a bit of self-publishing and using the internet every day of the week in what feels like my dream job (having worked in shops and on shift, and shovelled shit for no pay, in years gone by).

I feel very strongly that kids should be taught the skills and given the insight and knowledge to use the internet for more than just playing games, scrolling for hours through endless negativity on social media and watching videos of cats getting scared at the sight of a cucumber.
